I love detail photography. The color and textures that you often walk right by. I get to spend a lot of time with my niece and nephews and they notice everything. They aren’t in a hurry to get to the next thing, they are just in the now. It helps me to stop and be in the now as well.
A good macro lens is about $1,000, so it’s going to take a while for me to save up for one. Since my food photography class, I’m coveting the 105mm f2.8. In the meantime, I’ll make do with my 50mm f1.8, it’s a nice little lens.
Here are a few favorite details from Laos – when I find a market, I can’t really stop myself. The colors and textures and smells are amazing… minus the fish and raw meat sitting out on tables – you’ll notice there are no images of those items because I was sprinting by!
The colors are so unlike Seattle where most of the landscape hovers around a grayish-green hue. It’s okay to embrace my inner chartreuse here.
